Teaching and Learning

At Loiswell Academy, we are committed to creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters innovation, unlocks individual potential, and equips our learners with essential 21st-century skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving global world. With a strong emphasis on meaningful academic progress, Loiswell has successfully integrated the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) into its teaching approach, ensuring learners develop critical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving abilities.

In Grades 7, 8, and 9, our learners dive deeper into the CBC framework, allowing them to build on foundational knowledge and begin exploring various academic and career pathways in preparation for Senior School. Our approach is learner-centered, and our teachers act as facilitators of knowledge through the 5E Model—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate.

Learning at Loiswell is practical and experiential. Students engage in research, exploration, hands-on projects, and presentations that make learning active and meaningful. We have aligned our curriculum with the rationalized structure as guided by KICD, and in Junior School, we offer 9 core learning areas, all of which are compulsory under the new framework.

In addition, we provide non-formal learning areas that help identify and nurture each child’s unique talents and passions—be it in the arts, sciences, sports, or leadership. This holistic and inclusive approach ensures that no learner is left behind and that every student is prepared to succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Pastoral Care

At Loiswell Academy, we are deeply committed to ensuring the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of every learner. This is made possible through our active and dynamic Guidance and Counselling Department, which provides consistent support to learners across all stages of their academic journey.

We have established strong structures for career guidance to help our learners make informed decisions as they prepare to transition into Senior School. This process is guided by each learner’s interests, abilities, and academic strengths, ensuring that every student feels confident and supported in choosing the right pathway.

In recognizing the risks posed by the digital space, Loiswell Academy partners with credible organizations to promote internet safety, digital literacy, and awareness around cyberbullying. These programs are designed to empower learners with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world responsibly.

To further strengthen our support system, we also encourage peer-to-peer engagement, recognizing that learners often grow socially and emotionally by interacting with their fellow students. We believe that within peer spaces, children learn essential values, life skills, and competencies that contribute to their overall development and character formation.

Holistic Support: We offer emotional, social, and academic support through personalized mentorship, guidance and counseling services, and individual attention to each learner’s unique needs.

Positive School Culture: We foster a culture of respect, kindness, and positivity—ensuring that every child feels seen, heard, and appreciated.

Health and Safety: The safety and wellness of our students is our highest priority. We maintain strict health and safety measures and ensure that learners are in a secure and supportive environment at all times.

Well-Being Initiatives: We integrate programs that promote mental health, physical activity, mindfulness, and emotional resilience—helping our learners develop lifelong habits for balanced living.

Extra-curricular Activities

At Loiswell Academy, we are intentional about identifying and nurturing the unique abilities and talents of every learner. This is actively done through participation in clubs and societies that cater to a wide range of interests. Learners are also given opportunities to showcase their gifts during our Talent Shows, Exhibitions, and Entrepreneurship Days.

In addition, our students participate in competitions at various levels, including drama, music, sports, and academic congresses, which help to build their confidence, exposure, and practical skills.

We also host Career Days, where we invite professionals from various fields to speak to our learners. These sessions play a crucial role in creating career awareness and helping learners make informed decisions when selecting pathways into Senior School.

To complement academic learning, we offer engaging enrichment programs that allow learners to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. These are delivered through a variety of non-formal activities that support holistic growth and make learning both meaningful and memorable.
